New support group “Trans Space Notts” next meets 1st August, 7-9.

The group now has a name, chosen by NTH and group members “Trans Space Notts” (TSN for short). The first meet went brilliantly, and we had some great and very helpful feedback.  This funded group will run 7-9, 1st Monday of the month, further details here. All people who self-identify under the trans umbrella are welcome.

Trans Meet Up, 16 August, 7-9

The next informal trans meet-up/social will be on 16 August, it is always the 3rd Tuesday of the month.  Open to all trans people and Significant Others, Friends, Family and Allies (SOFFAs), meet upstairs at Broadway bar.

Notts Pride March, 30th July, 11.30, Castle Gate (opposite M&S)

Members of Notts Trans Hub will be marching in solidarity with the QTIPOC group, with positive messages of unity and support for POC inclusion in LGBT spaces. We’d love you to join us!

Invasion and Chameleons trans groups will also be marching.

Notts Pride, 30th July, 12-6

Notts Trans Hub members will be on the Notts LGBT+ Network stall from 2-3, so please come and say hello! Pride will once again be in Hockley.

Action for Trans Health – New Local Group

A new branch of the campaigning group Action for Trans Health is being formed in the Nottingham area. Trans people interested in getting involved in the campaign for better trans healthcare in the area should make contact. Those in the wider Nottinghamshire area are welcome to join, as is anyone who receives healthcare from the Nottingham GIC.

QTIPOCALYPSE 30th July 7-10pm (Pride night)

“A night of reckoning, confrontation, loudness, proudness and connection”. An open mic night organised by QTIPOC Notts (Notts lgbtqia+ people of colour). Performers: QTIPOC/POC invited to perform. Audience: Everybody welcome, FREE entry!!!

Free Film Screening for LGBT+ Pride week in Nottingham, Thurs 28 July

7-9pm, Waterstone’s Bookshop NG1 2GR: “3 short, upbeat and positive films to celebrate our community, followed by a brief, structured discussion. Open to ALL – including questioning and uncertain members of the LGBT+ community – and allies”. Booking essential! Details

Queerfest, 13-14 August

“A weekend of queer punk, this year’s vague, optional fancy-dress theme is: CRUSHES. All ages, all genders, all sexualities. Bring your own booze, soft-drinks, food, whatever.” Tickets

First national helpline for trans survivors of sexual violence

“We are a helpline which offers support to trans people including those who are non-binary and questioning who have experienced sexual violence at any point in their lifetime.” details

Sabah Choudrey’s Nottingham Speech at ‘Faith Allies for LGBT Equality’

Nottingham University hosted this event on July 19th at which Ruth Hunt, Stonewall’s CEO, also spoke. Sabah’s speech can be viewed here .

Family Pride 5th – 8th August 2016

A camping weekend for LGBT families, Staffs. Lots of fun activities for kids included.

Important Research in Connection with Nottingham Gender Clinic

“The aim of this research study is to test how well a newly-developed scale (the Nottingham Gender and Body Dysphoria Scale) assesses feelings about gender, the body and quality of life. We hope that this scale will be a useful tool to help health professionals understand more about the feelings and experiences of transgender individuals and to support their treatment and care. . . we are looking for transgender and cisgender people to complete the survey

Seeking Patients to sit on CCG’s People’s Council

Patient Leaders –  will work alongside City doctors, health managers and sit on our People’s Council to improve local services. Training and development will be provided.

Gender Clinic Feedback

It is important that as a community we feed back any issues with the gender clinic, particularly around waiting times.
